Bio:
After graduation, I went to Freed-Hardeman College for 2 years and came back to Lipscomb. Moved to Georgia in 1968 with Jenny Bradford and we lived and worked at Middle Georgia College in Cochran, GA. for a year (future husband was in Vietnam that year). We were anxious to experience life away from home. Enjoyed our year very much but came back to Nashville when year was up. I went to work for Dr. Arnold Meirowsky, a neurosurgeon at Vanderbilt. I worked for him a total of 7 years as a medical transcriptionist and secretary.
I traveled to Europe twice, spending 3 glorious weeks each time. They were both totally fun trips and I have great memories of my time there.
When I
came back from Europe the second time I decided I was ready to get married.
After much searching and even more praying, mutual
friends introduced me to a wonderful, godly Christian man named Pat Hackney.
We were married 9 months later on August 4, 1973. Pat grew up in Mt.
Juliet and we have lived in this area all our married life. We are the
kind of people who live in the same house for many, many years. Pat went
to work later that month for Friendship Christian School in Lebanon, TN.
The school was just beginning in 1973. He taught Math and coached
football.
He worked at FCS for 29 years, ending his career there as Headmaster the last 12 years. He has been teaching Math and coaching for Wilson Central High School in Lebanon for the past 3 years.
Ten months after getting married we were blessed with our first daughter, April Elizabeth. Two years and one month later we were blessed by our second daughter, Angela Carole. I was a stay at home Mom until Angela went to school. Both girls went to FCS for 13 years and then graduated from DLU. Angela got her Masters from MTSU. April is Director of Finance for Gambro Healthcare and Angela teaches kindergarten at Sylvan Park in Nashville. April is still single and looking, but Angela was married July 3, 2004 to a very special man, Derek Bell, whom we love very much. He also graduated from DLU and then from Vanderbilt with his Masters.
We are tremendously proud of our children, naturally. No grandchildren yet, of course. Both our girls live in Green Hills in Nashville. We have a very spoiled miniature Schnauzer named Kaiser.
After Dr. Meirowsky died in 1984 I went to work for Neurosurgical Associates in Nashville. I was a medical transcriptionist for 24 years and retired from that group in 2000. I now work as one of the church secretaries at Mt. Juliet Church of Christ, where my husband is an elder. I have been a member here for the past 32 years. Check out our website at
www.mtjuliet.org. I taught younger children for several years, but nowI co-teach an adult Sunday morning Bible class and Pat teaches the adult auditorium class on Wednesday nights. Our lives revolve around our children and extended family, mission work, and the church at Mt. Juliet..
My twin sister, Kathy Lowe Bradford, lives about 8 miles from me in Hermitage. Unbelievable as it may seem, we will hit the BIG SIX-OH one week from today, on February 24th. Seems Impossible! But if you want to learn about Kathy's life, you'll have to check her page. And if she hasn't posted it yet, let me know and I will bug her.
My life has been busy, steady and very happy. I'm thankful for the life I have had and prayerfully look to the rest of my life and eventually going home to live with God forever.
